Strategic Management Accounting Forums Our third year of Strategic Management Accounting Forums (2009) began in May with a two-day workshop on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) with facilitator Karine Benzacar, MBA, CMA, CPA, which was held in Fredericton. Next on the agenda in September was Project Management with Janice Petley, BA, BEd, MBA, PMP in Moncton. CMA New Brunswick’s own Tom Sullivan MBA, CIA, CMA once again concluded the series in November with his Corporate Fraud seminar, which was held in Saint John. Attendance at each of the forums was near capacity and rave reviews were received for all. Delegates at each of the forums enjoyed a full buffet breakfast and lunch as well as a selection of new give-aways including leather passport holders, cooler bags, pens, computer bags, and colourful iPOD socks. Members were also encouraged to enter a draw for a $1000 travel voucher for referring a friend or colleague to CMA New Brunswick. Members can still enter the draw by contacting Andrew Clarke at andrew.clarke@nb.aibn.com. The contest closes in April and the winner will be announced shortly thereafter. Comments received from delegates over the last three forums include: “Found that it was a great level of information. Very appropriate”. “I love the extra questions & exercises that participants can take back & apply the learning.” “This forum was excellent. I look forward to additional ones.” “The facilitator was very well versed in the topic and handled questions effectively.” “This was my first time at a CMA conference & I found the entire experience very positive and subject matter very relevant to my work.” Feedback received from all three Forums will be considered in the development of three new forums in 2010. Members wishing to suggest topics for future forums are asked to forward their suggestions to Rhonda at cmanb.admin@nb.aibn.com. We would like to thank our Corporate Partners: Aliant, Irving Group Moncton, and JD Irving, Ltd, our breakfast and luncheon sponsors: DB Group Consulting and Day and Ross and all of our 2009 facilitators, panelists and delegates for another great year!
