The Directors College for CMAsThe Conference Board of Canada, McMaster University's Michael G. DeGroote School of Business along with national partners, The Society of Management Accountants of Canada (CMA Canada), Ernst & Young and the Toronto Stock Exchange have partnered to launch The Directors College - a comprehensive professional director development program leading to one of the few accredited designations available to corporate directors, Chartered Director* (C.Dir.*). The Directors College fills an urgent need--widely acknowledged in the wake of corporate scandals and the subsequent push for governance reform--for knowledgeable and independent directors and for widening the available pool of directors. The founders and partners bring to bear national and international expertise in strengthening corporate governance and building the capacity of corporate directors. The Directors College program includes a series of four comprehensive modules plus one simulation session. It covers the full range of formal rules and practices related to the oversight and stewardship role of directors including an examination of the human dynamics that influence a board and its decisions. A diverse faculty of professionals and academics in the fields of governance, accounting, law, regulation and human dynamics will deliver the modules in both lecture style and interactive working sessions. Successful completion of The Directors College program will lead to the granting of a Chartered Director (C.Dir.) designation. CMA members will receive a 10 per cent discount to this program by indicating that they are a CMA member on their registration form.
